As I am ALMOST done with my summer courses, I have only one paper left for my classes. This paper has to be a 15 page research paper.
I have decided to do my paper on Gentrification. I am super excited to learn and write about this issue that is becoming more prevalent in many urban neighborhoods around the world.
I have a question for those of you reading this blog:
In your opinion, is Gentrification a purely "class" issue or is it also a "race" issue?
Hopefully i'll be writing soon to tell you my opinions, but I'd rather they be "informed" opinions, so I'll wait until I research and write my paper!

Hey Shasta! I'm interested to see your paper on this. We had huge discussion/argument over this issue in a college literature class I took (I can't remember the class, nor why we were discussing it.) Gentrification has a negative connotation in my mind. Although I would like to say that it is a class issue, I think in my heart of hearts it leans more towards a race issue. I never realized the racial tendencies that were still so prevalent in America, but they are very much here. Sorry I posted so long...I just love when people post relevant material and not idiocy (i.e. people on facebook and myspace). Keep up the good work and post that paper when it's finished!
